New iBook, Mac Mini

Apple has just released updates to the iBook and Mac Mini. The iBook still comes in both 12 and 14 inch flavors. The most notable change is that the new iBook now has sudden motion sensor as well as scrolling trackpad found only on the PowerBook until now. The 12-inch iBook is equipped with 1.33GHz G4 processor, 512MB SDRAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 with 32MB of dedicated DDR SDRAM, 40GB hard drive, built-in Airport Extreme, Bluetooth and slot-loading Combo drive priced at $999. The 14-inch iBook comes with 1.42GHz G4 processor, 512MB SDRAM, ATI Mobility Radeon 9550 with 32MB of dedicated DDR SDRAM, 80GB hard drive, built-in Airport Extreme, Bluetooth and slot-loading SuperDrive priced at $1299. The press release can be found here.

The Mac Mini is split across three lines. The cheapest range comes with a 1.25GHz G4 processor, 512MB SDRAM, ATI Radeon 9200 with 32MB of DDR SDRAM, 40GB hard drive and slot-loading Combo drive priced at $499. The next Mac Mini comes with a 1.42GHz G4 processor, 512MB SDRAM, ATI Radeon 9200 with 32MB of DDR SDRAM, 80GB hard drive, built-in Airport Extreme, Bluetooth and slot-loading Combo drive priced at $599. The $699 Mac Mini is identical to the $599 Mac Mini except that it comes with slot-loading SuperDrive in place of the slot-loading Combo drive. The press release can be found here.

Overall, nothing much to shout about but still good considering that there isn't going to be any significant updates on the product line until the Intel processors started to surface. The rumor mill got the widescreen wrong as well.
